On Homeschooling:

Join us!  Bring homeschooling friends!  Our speaker will be Donna Person, VP, The Education Association of Christian Homeschoolers - in CT (TEACH-CT) http://www.teachct.org/ - recommended by HSLDA's Michael Farris.  Specifically, Donna can discuss any of the following depending on your interests:

  • The idealology that is really behind some current challenges to homeschooling, both in the USA and internationally
  •  Understanding the Parental Rights Amendment, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and related issues.
  • Recent legislative activity in CT and its potential impact on homeschooling freedom -- how to get involved.
  • The role of TEACH - CT in the homeschooling community and our relationship to other homeschool organizations.
  • What you need to know about homeschooling in CT --  (Donna could also meet privately after the meeting with any who are interested in knowing more about getting started homeschooling.)


Note:   Q & A time related to any of the above.

The priest is also available for confession from 8:15 until 9:00 am.

The Clelian Adult Day Center, a ministry of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is running free memory screenings on  November 19, 2013 for National Memory Screening Day, an annual initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

MARCH FOR LIFE – WASHINGTON, D.C.

2014 is a state and Congressional election year and Wednesday, January 22, 2014 is the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Make March for Life 2014 in Washington, D.C. the largest ever!
                      
The March for Life Convention on Tuesday, January 21st will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The convention features pro-life speakers, exhibit booths and much more! Events include the Law of Life Summit, from 11 AM to 2 PM and a Youth Rally from 2 to 5 PM.

The March for Life Rally on Wednesday, January 22nd, will be held from noon to 1 PM on the National Mall. Following the Rally, starting from the Mall, will be the huge 2014 March for Life.

Following the March on January 22 the annual Rose Dinner will be held at the Hyatt Regency at 6 PM. Also associated with the March will be the 2nd Annual Nellie Gray 5K Run.

Last year’s March had an estimated 250,000 to 400,000 marchers participating. Over 700 pro-lifers from Connecticut made the trip, including large contingents from Cromwell, Norwalk, Waterbury, West Hartford, and Eastern Connecticut.

MARCH FOR LIFE – HARTFORD

On Saturday, January 25th, 2014, Archbishop Leonard P. Blair will celebrate Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hartford. Following Mass, Helpers of God’s Precious Infants will lead a Rosary procession to the State Capitol and back, for those wishing to participate. Once everyone is back at the Cathedral, there will be pro-life speakers and refreshments downstairs in the Cathedral.

Mass will be offered at St Mary’s Church, 5 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven. Date & Time TBA.

An amazing concert is being offered for free (No tickets required) on Sunday, November 17, 8pm, St Mary's Church, 5 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven

The Tallis Scholars directed by Peter Phillips was founded in 1973. Their recordings and concerts have established them as experts in Renaissance sacred music. The Tallis Scholars perform in sacred and secular venues giving nearly 70 concerts around the globe each year.

The concert is sponsored by the Yale Institute of Sacred Music


This free concert is a terrific gift to CT!
